The overwhelming response to the news that I’m going to try to have a baby is shock, confusion, and then joy.

I know I have let far too much time lapse since my last post but I’m still getting used to this. All of this. Prenatal vitamins, research, and of course my favorite….peeing on a stick. woohoo. Plus to top it off I’m trying to finish a book that I need to return to the library.

Katy knows far more about this whole baby making process than I do and to be honest the only cycles I know anything about are the kind with 2 wheels. Once a month it happens, lasts a few days and then it ends. No big deal. So now we are going to be tracking my cycle for the next couple of months.

I know I should have read the instructions before the first morning of testing but I didn’t. In my head I was sure it was more complicated than just peeing on a stick. So panic struck when I had to go NOW and Katy was on the phone. Luckily she was able to get off the phone quickly and help me through it. To my surprise (and relief) it really was just peeing on a stick.

After four days of testing, finally I get a positive result. So on the calender it will go and we will monitor again next month.

Now I’m going to get my bookmark back from the kid who is running away with it and try to find where I left off.

I’m officially starting my blog…..

now what!!!

My lovely and talented wife, Katy, created this page for me and like a child on her first day of school I was given the how-to’s, be careful of, and general blogging etiquette to get me ready for this. There have been lots happening around here and I kept thinking “I should blog about this!!”

I could tell you about work and the promotion that will remain just out of arms reach. But not now…I’m sure you’ll hear enough about my job soon enough.

I could also share the excitement of our free weekend we had staying at the Palazzo in Las Vegas and going to see the musical “The Jersey Boys”. I love being locals!! You’ll get that one after I get the “how to add pictures to your blog” lesson.

So the topic that is actually going to get me started blogging…babies!!! Three days ago I decided I want to try to have a baby. Today that decision still feels surreal. We already have one wonderful little girl and we are extremely lucky and blessed. She is going to be three in September. It’s time for a second.

I never really thought I would be the one to bring another baby in to the family. I’m not that kind of girl. Femininity has never been my forte. I know I took Katy by complete surprise. We’ve considered our options. Adoption, surrogacy and having Katy carry the baby but each option had a serious hiccup that we just couldn’t work around. So I’m gonna do it!!! I’m so excited but I still can’t believe what I’m getting myself into. Next step to this will be a trip to California and a withdrawal from a special kind of bank. Oh boy.
